Pillow covers are our speciality,we have a large variety,all are one of a kind.Most are made from antique guatemalan huipiles,which are the blouses of the indigenous women still worn today!The women have developed incredible weaving skills on primitive backstrap looms which are basically sticks and threads.The resulting textiles are true pieces of art!
We have been working with these textiles for many years,making them into pillowcovers with all the love and respect they deserve!They look great as sofa cushions,on beds or even framed on a wall.Most of the huipiles have a center neckhole that we fill with silk or cotton fabric and tassels or braids,and all the pillows have intricate handmade trims around them,either cordings,braids or crochet work in matching colors.
For fillings we suggest that you get your own-(shipping costs for a stuffed pillow are outrageous) either have it made or stuff the cover with down pillows or even a comforter!The other option is fiberfill, which can be obtained in any craft-hobby shop.For a 5$ surcharge we can make you a zippered muslin pillow to fit your pillowcover and all you need to do is stuff it with the fiber!
